O’Connell College Preparatory School
(OCPS) is a comprehensive four-year private, Catholic secondary school
with an approximate enrolment of 130 students in grades 9 through 12.
The school was chartered in 1847 by the Sisters of Ursuline. It is
accredited by the Texas Education Agency and through the Catholic School
Accreditation Agency and is a member of T.A.P.P.S. (Texas Association of
Private and Parochial Schools). OCPS holds memberships in the College
Board and the Texas Association for College Admissions Counseling.
Academic Programming:
OCPS’s academic programming and curriculum is based
upon a traditional, liberal arts schedule. Seven (7) credits per
semester is the maximum course load and students have the same courses
every day for the duration of the semester.
GPA and Class Ranking:
The OCPS Board of Directors eliminated class rank
beginning with the class of 2010.
GPA Calculation:
GPA is computed using a numerical grade average.
Adding the numerical semester grade of each course attempted at the high
school level and dividing the total number by the number of courses.
Advanced Placement Results:
· 51% of the AP Exams received scores of 3
or higher
Post-High School Placement:
95% matriculated to 4-year colleges and/or
