College Prep Program

 The purpose of the College Prep Program is to assist students as they embark upon their future college and career planning.  At the beginning of their freshman year at OCPS, each student is advised on how to begin preparing and documenting their high school career in order to reach their goals both academically and professionally.  It is the purpose of the OCPS College Prep Program to take a holistic approach to a student’s individual needs based upon their future goals and objectives. 

In today’s competitive academic environment, students are given a variety of choices and many times this is an overwhelming experience for them.  Students are not always sure where to focus their attention academically.   The College Prep Program meets with students and parents to identify where they want to be and where they want to go upon graduation from OCPS.  We strive to ensure every child is fully aware of their potential and how OCPS and the College Prep Program are designed to nurture them throughout their career at OCPS.

The College Prep Program guides and assists OCPS students in the following:

·         SAT Prep/ACT Prep Classes

·         Interest, Community and Personal Activity Inventories

·         Essay Writing, Resume Writing and Portfolio Management

·         Job Shadowing Opportunities

·         College Prep 101 Seminar

·         College Visits

·         Advocacy with College Admission Officers

·         Transcript Requests

·         Recommendation Requests

·         College and Career Fairs

·         Maintain the College Resource Center

·         Bi-Monthly Collegiate Scholarship Spreadsheet

·         College Admissions and Financial Aid Counseling and Preparation
